Argument in an Istanbul park turns into a knife attack
A person sitting on a bench in a park in Beyoğlu was stabbed in the abdomen by an individual who approached them. The assailant was apprehended by security forces following a short pursuit, along with the knife used in the incident. It was learned that the suspect cited "giving a dirty look" as the reason for the attack.

The incident, which occurred on the morning of Monday, May 11, in the Camiikebir neighborhood of Beyoğlu, caused brief panic in the area. According to information obtained, 23-year-old Muharrem Ç. was sitting on a bench in the park when an individual dressed in black approached him. The suspect, Batuhan A., stayed next to Muharrem Ç. on the bench for a while before unexpectedly stabbing him in the abdomen.
Following the attack, the suspect quickly fled the scene, and police and medical teams were dispatched to the area upon reports from bystanders. The injured Muharrem Ç. was taken to Okmeydanı Prof. Dr. Cemil Taşcıoğlu City Hospital immediately after receiving initial intervention. Authorities reported that Muharrem Ç. was conscious and that his life was not in danger.
APPREHENDED AFTER THE INCIDENT
Police teams from the Beyoğlu Patrol Division identified the attacker by examining witness statements and security camera footage. It was stated that the suspect was apprehended in the Camiikebir neighborhood shortly after the incident, along with the knife used as the weapon. Investigations revealed that Batuhan A. had various prior criminal records.
In his statement at the police station, Batuhan A. claimed that he stabbed Muharrem Ç. while he was sitting on the bench because he had "given him a dirty look." After completing his processing at the police station, Batuhan A. was referred to the courthouse on charges of 'intentional injury'.
