Argument over T.C. ID numbers in deposit return machine queue in Bolu caught on camera

The Deposit Return System (DOA) implemented by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change on July 1, 2026, continues to cause congestion at return machines in supermarkets.

In the system, which provides a 1 lira incentive for plastic, glass, and aluminum packaging, a dispute over the queue occurred at a chain supermarket in Bolu's Karamanlı neighborhood.

According to allegations, a woman who brought bags full of packaging used the device for a long time by inserting bottles and cans one by one. Meanwhile, citizens waiting behind her reacted, stating that they were not being given a turn.

A citizen waiting in line objected to the situation, saying, "You won't even let one person go ahead. I live across the street, it's very shameful." The woman using the machine replied, "Instead of sleeping and waking up, you should have come at 9 o'clock."

The argument did not end there. The waiting citizen alleged that the woman was using other people's T.C. (Turkish Republic) identity numbers to exceed the transaction limit.

The citizen stated, "She is entering with someone else's T.C. number. How can she legally have the T.C. numbers of 10 people? Imagine she processed 500 items. We have reported you, we have written it down and are waiting. We are waiting for CİMER to handle you, we will see what they do."

The argument inside the market was recorded with a mobile phone camera. The footage showed that the congestion forming in front of deposit return machines has brought new disputes along with the daily use of the application.
