On April 28, a hotel housing cats and dogs, owned by a citizen named Nurhayat Bıçakçıoğlu, was fired upon multiple times with a handgun.
While the bullets from the handgun struck the hotel, no one was injured in the incident.
Police teams arrived upon notification and launched an investigation into the matter.
The moment of the incident was recorded by the hotel's security camera. In the footage, the individual holding a handgun is seen firing at the hotel multiple times. As minutes passed, the moments when the individual attempted to break the door with a flying kick and shouted "come out" were also captured on camera.
"3 ANIMALS ARE BEING USED AS AN EXCUSE"
Speaking about the incident, Nurhayat Bıçakçıoğlu alleged that some local residents opposed the housing of animals at the hotel, stating, "The 3 animals I look after are being used as an excuse. In reality, those who want the hotel to close are foreigners living in a nearby complex. They came from abroad and do not want the animals. They use the presence of these animals, and stray animals, as an excuse to hurt them, throw stones at them, and constantly try to provoke them. They came from the shelter and took the animals away. We are fighting that battle here.
"THEY FIRED 23 ROUNDS"
After they had the animals taken away, once I was left defenseless, they fired 23 rounds at me here. The person who fired the weapon already has a bit of a grudge against me. The plot next door is my land. I explained to him a few times not to do it. I went and intervened. Because I intervened, I received this kind of response. Afterwards, they kept raining threats. They want me to close this place and leave, saying 'these incidents won't end, you will experience this again.' They say, 'The animals don't concern you, mind your own business, deal with the customers' dogs.' I am constantly receiving such threats here. I do not want to leave these 3 souls in their hands," she said.
