Armed attack on a music hall in Sarıyer: 1 dead, 5 injured
One person lost their life and 5 people, including 2 police officers, were injured in an armed attack on a music hall in Sarıyer. The Istanbul Governor's Office issued a statement following the attack.

In the Huzur neighborhood of Sarıyer, on Umar Street, an argument broke out between a group of 4-5 people who were not allowed into a music hall because they were carrying weapons, and the establishment's staff.
Upon notification, police teams were dispatched to the area.
OPENED FIRE WITH WEAPONS
The suspects, who had left the scene, returned after a while and opened fire on the music hall with weapons while police teams were in front of the establishment.
As police teams returned fire, 1 taxi driver lost his life, and 2 police officers, as well as the taxi driver and establishment employees Y.T. and S.T., were injured.
The injured were taken to the hospital by ambulance after receiving initial intervention at the scene.
NUMEROUS SPENT CASINGS FOUND
Crime Scene Investigation teams found numerous spent casings in the area where they conducted their work.
Efforts to apprehend the suspects who fled after the attack are ongoing.
ISTANBUL GOVERNOR'S OFFICE ISSUED A WRITTEN STATEMENT FOLLOWING THE ATTACK:
"On 24.01.2024, at approximately 04:45, 1 person present at the scene lost their life and 4 people, including 2 on-duty police officers, were injured in an armed attack that occurred at an entertainment center located in the Huzur neighborhood of the Sarıyer district.
In the initial investigation conducted by security units, the development of the incident was determined as follows: 5 suspects came to the entertainment venue some time before the incident and caused a disturbance. Upon seeing that two of the suspects were carrying weapons, the 5 individuals were removed from the premises by the staff. Approximately one hour after the incident, the 5 suspects arrived at the scene on motorcycles and carried out an armed attack on the workplace.
While police teams, who arrived at the scene to conduct investigations following the report received after the first attack, were continuing their work, the suspects returned to the scene and carried out a second attack. Upon the security teams returning fire, the attackers fled the scene.
In the attack that occurred, 2 police officers and 3 civilians were injured; one of the injured, M.S.Ş., could not be saved despite the intervention performed at the hospital where he was taken and lost his life. The other injured individuals are not in life-threatening condition, and efforts to identify and apprehend the suspects involved in the incident are continuing."
