Armed attack on journalist in Bursa

In an incident that occurred in the Nilüfer district of Bursa, Başka Gazete columnist and journalist Yaman Kaya was subjected to an armed attack near his workplace.

HE HAD WRITTEN ABOUT 'CONSTRUCTION CORRUPTION' IN HIS COLUMN

Yaman Kaya, who was traveling alone, stated that when he reached the intersection of 'Yağmur Street and Balcı Street', he noticed two people waiting, and as his vehicle passed, he heard a loud explosion.

After the driver's side window shattered, he stopped the vehicle to inspect it and saw that the front left door window was broken and a bullet jacket was embedded in the lower part of the front right window. He then called 112. During his statement, he expressed that he had been writing in his column about construction corruption in Bursa, particularly in Nilüfer.

Kaya's post regarding the incident is as follows:

''Shortly after leaving my workplace on FSM Boulevard just now, I was subjected to an armed attack while driving my vehicle. I am in good health and am currently giving a statement. Let me say it now: I will not be intimidated!''

HE HAD BEEN RECEIVING DEATH THREATS

It was reported that he had received death threats from time to time, though these had decreased recently, and that Yaman Kaya was not injured in the incident. During checks conducted in the area, one empty shell casing was found on the ground.

An investigation into the matter has been initiated by the Nilüfer Police Department.
