According to the report in BirGün, construction machinery entered the forest this morning to begin felling for the planned recreational area project in the Cankurtaran region. The villagers, organized through the Çifteköprü Agricultural Development Cooperative, attempted to block the felling.

A scuffle broke out during the intervention. While the villagers were keeping watch in the area, those who wanted to bring the construction machinery into the site opened fire on the villagers with guns.

Villagers Reşit Kibar, Ersan Koyuncu, and Gökhan Koyuncu were injured in the attack. The injured were taken to Hopa State Hospital for treatment.

The people of Hopa, upon hearing the news, flocked to the hospital.

Reşit Kibar, who was seriously injured in the attack, could not be saved despite all interventions. The treatment of the injured Ersan Koyuncu and Gökhan Koyuncu continues.
