Armed attack on Yapı Kredi branch in Diyarbakır: Shutters riddled with bullets

Following similar incidents in Istanbul and Antalya in recent days, news of another bank attack has come from Diyarbakır. In the historic Sur district of Diyarbakır, a branch of Yapı Kredi Bank, which is part of the Koç Group, was riddled with bullets during the night. After employees arriving for work in the morning discovered the attack, Gazi Street was closed to traffic, and the branch was temporarily closed for service.

A new incident has been added to the series of mysterious attacks targeting institutions belonging to certain capital groups across Turkey. Last night, around 23:30, the Yapı Kredi Bank branch located on Gazi Street in the central Sur district of Diyarbakır was subjected to an armed attack by unidentified person or persons.

THEY SHOT IT AT NIGHT, EMPLOYEES DISCOVERED IT IN THE MORNING

Because the attack took place late at night, there were fortunately no deaths or injuries. The incident was discovered by bank staff who arrived at the branch for the start of the workday in the morning:

Employees who saw numerous bullet impacts on the windows and exterior of the bank building immediately notified the police.

Upon the report, numerous counter-terrorism, public order, and crime scene investigation teams were dispatched to the scene. During the evidence collection efforts by the Diyarbakır Police Department teams, Gazi Street, one of the city's busiest arteries, was temporarily closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

NOTICE POSTED ON THE BRANCH: SERVICE SUSPENDED

Following the attack, security measures were increased at the targeted bank branch, and bank management temporarily suspended operations at the branch. An informational note reading, "Our branch is unable to provide service; you may receive support from other branches," was posted on the bank's entrance door.

ARE THE ATTACKS ORGANIZED?

This incident in Diyarbakır comes immediately after armed attacks carried out in recent days on branches of the same bank chain and similar business groups in Istanbul and Antalya. Law enforcement agencies have begun examining all KGYS (MOBESE) and workplace security cameras in the area to identify the attackers, determine their escape routes, and uncover whether there is an organized organizational directive behind these actions.
