Arrest request for Ağırel and Soykan

Journalists Murat Ağırel and Timur Soykan, who were detained as part of an investigation launched on charges of "threat" and "blackmail," have been referred to the judgeship with a request for their arrest.

Following the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into suspects involved in "opposition to the Law on the Regulation of Betting and Games of Chance in Football and Other Sports Competitions" and "laundering of assets derived from crime," Ağırel and Soykan were detained on allegations of making threats and blackmail regarding the transfer and acquisition of the "Flash Haber TV" channel. Their questioning at the Cyber Crimes Branch Directorate has been completed.

The two suspects were referred to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan after undergoing a health check.

Following their statements at the prosecutor's office, the suspects were sent to the on-duty criminal judgeship of peace with a request for their arrest on charges of "blackmail."
