Arrest request for Beykoz Mayor

The Beykoz Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has requested the arrest of Köseler on charges of 'rigging a tender' and 'misconduct in office.' In addition to Köseler, the Beykoz Municipality Chief of Staff and 16 others were referred to court with a request for their arrest.

Köseler and the other suspects, who gave their statements to the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, will appear before a judge today. The prosecution has requested that 4 suspects be released under judicial control.

Köseler was detained on February 27 on charges of 'rigging a tender' and 'misconduct in office.' A total of 21 people, including Köseler, were referred to the courthouse. The operation led to an increase in security measures in Beykoz.

KÖSELER'S DETENTION PROCESS

As part of the operation launched at 04:00 on the morning of February 27, Köseler and 20 others were detained and referred to the Beykoz Courthouse. The operation was carried out upon the instructions of the Beykoz Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

During the detention process, barriers were set up by police and riot squad teams in front of the Beykoz Municipality building. Security measures were heavily felt in the area. It was reported that the detained individuals were taken to the courthouse to have their statements taken.

İMAMOĞLU REACTS

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu reacted to the detention of Beykoz Mayor Köseler. Speaking at the CHP's primary election meeting, İmamoğlu said, 'Köseler would have gone running if he had been called to testify. This type of operation is incomprehensible.' İmamoğlu also expressed his doubts regarding the detention process.

Stating that there are doubts regarding the validity of the evidence, İmamoğlu made the following remarks regarding Köseler's detention:

''Last week, in the late afternoon, police came to the Beykoz Municipality. They had a document signed by a prosecutor in their hands. However, that prosecutor was not even aware of this document. Unfortunately, the signature was also fake. Nothing could be accessed via the barcode. When this matter came to light, it is clear that the owner of the bad plan became very angry and turned it into a personal vendetta. As a result, a raid was carried out on the mayor's house at 04:00 in the morning. This is a shameful situation.''

İmamoğlu stated that after the operation, Köseler was taken to the police station on Vatan Street, and added the following:

'These are not normal things. These are shameful things that we do not want to see in our country, and that we would not want even a single person to experience.'

The detention operation led to an increase in security measures in Beykoz. Police and riot squad teams ensured security by setting up barriers in front of the municipal building. The developments in the region also caused anxiety among the citizens.
