Arrest request for Tunç Soyer: 99 people face judge in İzmir investigation
In the corruption investigation targeting the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, 99 people, including former mayor Tunç Soyer, CHP Provincial Chair Şenol Aslanoğlu, and former İZBETON General Manager Heval Savaş Kaya, have been referred to court with a request for their arrest.

As part of the investigation conducted by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a large-scale operation was carried out on Tuesday, July 1, on charges of "rigging bids" and "qualified fraud." The investigation was based on reports from the Court of Accounts, civil inspectors, and expert witnesses.
Within the scope of the investigation, detention warrants were issued for a total of 157 people, including former İzmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer, CHP İzmir Provincial Chair Şenol Aslanoğlu, and former İZBETON General Manager Heval Savaş Kaya. Of these individuals, 137 were taken into custody.
TUNÇ SOYER'S TESTIMONY PROCESS COMPLETED
The testimony of Tunç Soyer, one of those detained, was taken at the İzmir Police Department's Yeşilyurt Building. Following the testimony procedures, Soyer was taken to the hospital for a health check, and upon completion of those procedures, he was referred to the Bayraklı Courthouse this morning. It was learned that Soyer was taken into the courthouse discreetly through the former Forensic Medicine entrance.
ARREST REQUEST FOR 99 PEOPLE
A total of 137 people whose testimony procedures were completed were referred to the courthouse. The prosecutor's office requested the arrest of 99 of them. Among those whose arrest is sought are Soyer, Aslanoğlu, and Kaya. Meanwhile, judicial control measures were requested for 19 people.
WHAT HAPPENED?
The İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had launched an investigation on July 1 following allegations of "corruption" carried out through subcontractor companies at İZBETON AŞ, a subsidiary of the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality.
In this context, based on the Court of Accounts report, the civil inspector's report, and expert reports, detention warrants were issued for 157 suspects on charges of "rigging bids and the performance of duties" and "qualified fraud."
It was learned that 22 of the suspects were officials at İZBETON AŞ, 2 at the Business People Örnekköy Housing Construction Cooperative, 3 at the Business World Housing Construction Cooperative, 2 at the Business People Gaziemir Housing Construction Cooperative, 3 at the Business Community New Life Housing Construction Cooperative, and 3 at the Aegean Business People Housing Construction Cooperative, while the other 122 suspects were municipal personnel and owners or employees of companies operating in fields such as construction, building, electricity, marble, and waste separation.
