Arrest requests for 6 suspects in Gülistan Doku investigation: Investigation continues

Out of 8 suspects referred to the courthouse in the Gülistan Doku investigation, arrest was requested for 6, and judicial control was requested for 1.

A new phase has been reached in the investigation regarding university student Gülistan Doku, who has been missing since January 5, 2020. Eight of the 18 suspects taken into custody were referred to the Erzurum Courthouse following their processing by the gendarmerie.

In line with the instructions of the Erzurum Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a simultaneous operation was carried out by the Provincial Gendarmerie Command in 16 provinces on July 27. The processing of 8 of the suspects detained within the scope of the operation has been completed.

The suspects, who underwent health checks, were brought to the courthouse under heavy security measures. It was reported that the statements at the prosecutor's office lasted approximately 21 hours.

Following the statement procedures, one of the suspects was released. Of the remaining 7 suspects, 6 were referred to the criminal judgeship of peace with a request for arrest, and 1 with a request for release under judicial control.

The processing of the other 10 suspects in custody within the scope of the investigation continues at the gendarmerie. In the operation, proceedings were initiated against 19 people, including a police chief, a police superintendent, a chief inspector, an inspector, a chief police officer, police officers, a computer operator, and retired police officers, and 18 people were taken into custody.
