Arrests made in Kartalkaya hotel fire investigation
In the investigation into the hotel fire tragedy in Bolu Kartalkaya that claimed 78 lives, the wife and two daughters of hotel owner Halit Ergül, who were board members, have been arrested.

On the night of January 21, a fire broke out in the restaurant section of the Grand Kartal Hotel in Bolu Kartalkaya, resulting in the deaths of 78 people.
Following the fire, an investigation was launched, leading to the detention of 31 suspects. Among those previously arrested were hotel owner Halit Ergül, the hotel's general manager and Ergül's son-in-law Emir Aras, Provincial Special Administration Secretary General Sırrı Köstereli, Fire Department Chief Kenan Coşkun, and Bolu Deputy Mayor Sedat Gülener, totaling 22 suspects.

As part of the extensive investigation into the fire, and following a report prepared by an expert committee, the Bolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office ordered the detention of Bolu Provincial Special Administration Licensing Manager Yeliz Erdoğan and former Licensing Manager Mehmet Özel yesterday. Today, Emine Murtezaoğlu Ergül, the wife of the imprisoned owner Halit Ergül and a board member, their daughter Elif Aras, another daughter and company partner Ceyda Hacıbekiroğlu, civil engineer İsmail Haluk İnceler—who performed the static calculations during the year the hotel was built—as well as occupational safety experts Ece Kayacan, Muharrem Şen, Mustafa Selman Çelen, and Kübra Demir, who had been detained and subsequently released after the fire, were taken into custody.
It was learned that the Ergül family members were detained in Istanbul and brought to Bolu in the morning. After completing procedures at the gendarmerie, the suspects were referred to the courthouse.
HALİT ERGÜL'S WIFE AND DAUGHTERS ARRESTED
Emine Murtezaoğlu Ergül, the wife of the imprisoned owner Halit Ergül and a board member, along with their daughters Elif Aras and Ceyda Hacıbekiroğlu, were arrested by the duty magistrate at the courthouse where they were referred.
Occupational safety expert Ece Kayacan, civil engineer İsmail Haluk İnceler, who performed the static calculations during the year the hotel was built, and architect Muharrem Şen were released following their statements to the prosecutor's office.
It was learned that the courthouse proceedings for Bolu Provincial Special Administration Licensing Manager Yeliz Erdoğan, Seben Provincial Special Administration Manager Mehmet Özel, Mustafa Selman Çelen, and occupational safety expert Kübra Demir are ongoing.
