Arrests made in attack involving fallen police officers

The attacker and his father have been arrested in connection with the attack in İzmir that resulted in the martyrdom of two police officers.

The investigation into the attack on the police station in İzmir continues. The attack took place on September 8 in Balçova.

First Class Police Chief and Police Inspector Muhsin Aydemir and police officer Hasan Akın were martyred by gunfire opened by the attacker, E.B.

Police officers Ömer Amilağ and Murat Dağlı, along with one civilian, were injured in the incident.

The attacker, E.B., was also neutralized after being wounded in the ensuing clash.

Within the scope of the investigation into the incident, 16 of the 27 detained suspects, who were under the age of 18, were referred to the courthouse following processing at the İzmir Police Department's Juvenile Branch and were released after their statements were taken by the prosecutor's office.

The processing of the attacker E.B., his mother, his father, and eight other suspects, who were detained following the incident, has been completed at the İzmir Provincial Police Department's Counter-Terrorism Branch.

The prosecutor's questioning of the suspects referred to the courthouse has concluded.

The attacker E.B., along with his parents and 9 other suspects, were referred to the court with a request for arrest, while 2 suspects were referred with a request for judicial control. The attacker E.B. and his father were arrested.
