On the night of June 14, two cars registered to Yaşar Soycan (46) and his son Cafer Soycan were set on fire by unidentified individuals in the Bahçeşehir Neighborhood of Konya's Meram district. The torched vehicles were rendered unusable.
According to the report by Sabah Newspaper journalist Tolga Yanık, Soycan stated that he suspected his distant relative, Aliye Ay.
''SHE STARTED THREATENING ME''
Stating that he is a forklift operator at a factory, Soycan said, "My distant relative Aliye Ay started working at the factory in September 2023 with my referral. After a while, Aliye started having problems due to her behavior.
From time to time, I mediated regarding these problems. My wife and I even went to her house and gave her advice. She was fired due to her behavior. For this reason, she held me responsible and started threatening me."
THEY WERE TAKEN INTO CUSTODY
Following their investigation, teams from the Robbery Bureau of the Public Security Branch determined that the arson was carried out by Aliye Ay and her 17-year-old nephew H.A. Both suspects were taken into custody in an operation.
SHE CONDUCTED RECONNAISSANCE FOR DAYS
The findings from Aliye Ay's mobile phone were shocking. It was determined that the young woman had conducted reconnaissance at the scene for days, drew a map of the area, and even decided what to wear while coming to the scene. It was also alleged that Ay had researched how to carry out the arson on the internet.
THEY WERE ARRESTED
It was learned that Aliye Ay first proposed the arson to her brother, and when her brother did not accept the offer, she turned to her nephew by promising him money, and they carried out the incident together.
It was also stated that Ay went to the scene through a dry canal to avoid being caught by security cameras while heading to the location. Both suspects, who confessed to their crimes, were referred to the courthouse. Ay and her nephew H.A. were arrested by the court they were brought before.
