The winner of the March 31 Local Elections was the Republican People's Party (CHP). Reaching a vote share of 37.77 percent, the CHP became the leading party in Turkey for the first time in 47 years.

Delivering his victory speech while the vote count was still ongoing on the night of March 31, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel stated, "The voters said the Republic of Turkey with all our colors. The CHP has now broken the 25 percent ceiling; it has shattered it to pieces. The CHP is no longer just the party of the Mediterranean and Aegean coasts, but the party of all of Turkey."

TUNCAY MOLLAVEİSOĞLU HAD WRITTEN ABOUT THE 'GLASS CEILING'
