The assets of 16 individuals in Turkey have been frozen over allegations of financing terrorist organizations.

The Presidential Decree regarding the matter has been published in the Official Gazette and has entered into force.

Accordingly, the assets of 16 individuals in Turkey were frozen pursuant to Article 6 of the Law on the Prevention of Financing of Terrorism, titled "Requests made by foreign states."

The existence of reasonable grounds regarding the commission of acts prohibited from being funded or collected, as well as acts falling within the scope of the crime of financing terrorism, was cited as the justification for the decision.

The decision may be revoked if no investigation is initiated within 1 year by the state that requested the freezing of the assets of the individuals in question.
