Associate professor at hospital arrested for 'bribery'

Prof. Dr. M.T.K., who works at Dicle University Hospital, has been arrested on charges of 'bribery' after being detained on allegations of demanding 'knife money' (under-the-table payments) from patients' relatives in Diyarbakır. Dicle University Hospital Chief Physician Mehmet Ata Akıl, commenting on the scandal, stated, "We have received no complaints. We only learned about it after he was arrested."

Following a complaint filed against the individual named M.T.K., teams from the Provincial Security Directorate detained the individual on December 18. After completing the procedures, M.T.K. was referred to the courthouse and subsequently arrested by the court.
'WE HAVE RECEIVED NO COMPLAINTS'
Dicle University Hospital Chief Physician Mehmet Ata Akıl also made a statement regarding the incident. The statement included the following remarks:
"This is not an investigation conducted by us. Since this is an investigation being carried out by the police, we only became aware of it after he was arrested. He was arrested after being detained on charges of 'extortion.' We have no information regarding the details of the matter. We have received no complaints. After he was detained at his home on Wednesday morning, the police requested his information from us yesterday. We only learned about it after he was arrested."
