Atalay Demirci, sentenced to 5 years in prison for FETÖ links, arrested

Comedian Atalay Demirci, who had a finalized 5-year prison sentence for membership in the terrorist organization FETÖ and had been a fugitive for some time, was captured as a result of an operation conducted by the Istanbul police. Within the scope of the investigation coordinated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the police's Counter-Terrorism and Intelligence units tracked down Demirci.

According to the information obtained, as a result of technical and physical surveillance, it was determined that Atalay Demirci was in Kartal. The teams captured Demirci in an operation carried out at the identified address. Demirci, who was taken into custody, was referred to the courthouse after the completion of his procedures at the police station.

Atalay Demirci, who was ordered to be arrested by the court he was brought before, was sent to prison. The 5-year prison sentence previously handed down to him had been upheld by the Court of Cassation, and Demirci had been wanted for some time.
