Attack at CHP-run municipality: Deputy mayor injured during scuffle

In a statement issued by the Sivrihisar Municipality, it was reported that an individual identified as H.A., who had previously been convicted of threatening and insulting Mayor Habil Dökmeci, came to the municipal building with the intent to attack him, and injured Deputy Mayor Mehmet Taş during a scuffle that broke out in the building.

Following the incident, it was reported that necessary medical interventions were performed immediately and that Deputy Mayor Mehmet Taş's treatment is ongoing.

The statement noted that the legal process regarding the attack has been initiated immediately, that separate criminal complaints have been filed against the suspect by both the municipality and Mehmet Taş, and that the suspect's interrogation process is being conducted by the Sivrihisar Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

Emphasizing that violence, threats, and attempted attacks in municipal buildings where public services are provided are unacceptable, the statement expressed that they stand against any unlawful attempt to disrupt the peace in Sivrihisar.

The statement said, "In a democratic society, the path to resolution is not through threats, pressure, and violence, but through law and legitimate grounds. We have full faith that the requirements of the rule of law will be fully fulfilled regarding individuals who endanger people's lives, disrupt public order, and carry out attacks against public officials. We trust in the law. At the same time, we specifically state that we must trust in the law in order to protect the rule of law."
