Attack on CHP district office following Imrali decision: 'They shouldn't get their hopes up'

Following the Republican People's Party (CHP) decision not to appoint members to the delegation that will visit terrorist organization PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan on Imrali Island, an attack was carried out on the party's Ipekyolu District Presidency.

While it was learned that no one was harmed in the attempted attack, the party building's signs were broken by the attackers.

The “Tarafsız Van Haber” page, which shared the attack on its X account, posted the caption “Harsh reaction from the people of Van to the CHP, which does not show the necessary support for the ‘Terror-Free Turkey’ process!” along with the footage.

CHP Spokesperson Deniz Yücel stated in a post on his social media account that they stand for common sense and peace, and included the following remarks:
"We condemn the attack on our Van Ipekyolu District Presidency. Those who hope to gain from violence, vandalism, and provocation should not get their hopes up.
As the founding party, we always stand for common sense, peace, tranquility, and democracy.
The Republican People's Party is the guarantor of social peace, tranquility, and democracy in this country. No power can change this fact."
