Attack on police attempting to apprehend fugitive

In Adana, when police officers attempted to apprehend a convict wanted for drug trafficking with a finalized 21-year prison sentence, his relatives and bystanders attacked the officers, prompting the convict to attempt an escape. The police shot the convict in the legs and apprehended him.

According to the information obtained, the incident occurred in the Şehit Erkut Akbay neighborhood of the central Yüreğir district. It is alleged that investigation teams from the Adana Police Department's Yüreğir District Police Directorate determined that Engin D. (29), who had received a finalized 21-year prison sentence for drug trafficking, was in the Şehit Erkut Akbay neighborhood. The police raided the neighborhood to apprehend the convict. However, when the convict's relatives and bystanders attacked the police, Engin D. attempted to flee. Upon this, the police shot Engin D. in the legs and apprehended him. The police then took Engin D. to the hospital. Meanwhile, Engin D.'s relatives and individuals in the vicinity also damaged police vehicles. These moments were captured on camera second by second.
