The founding leader of the Republic of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, was the subject of a provocative incident during a memorial service held in his honor at the Hacı Bayram Veli Mosque in Ankara on the anniversary of his death.

Approximately five minutes after the service began, while the Yasin Surah was being recited, an individual with a beard and a skullcap walked toward the area where the imams were located and shouted, "Atatürk does not recognize the prophet, be ashamed of your beard."

Following the verbal attack by the unidentified individual, the congregation maintained their composure and, taking care to prevent the provocation from escalating, escorted the person out of the mosque.

After the incident, in which security personnel also intervened, police teams were notified. The individual, who was taken to the mosque courtyard, continued their provocative behavior there and remained waiting while smoking a cigarette.
