Attention drivers: Inspections have increased

According to the Traffic Law, if you commit the same traffic offense twice within 2 years, your driver's license will be confiscated. Your license may also be confiscated if you commit certain traffic offenses twice within 5 years.

Among traffic penalties, the most severe are imposed on drivers who endanger traffic. At the forefront of these penalties is driving in a way that knowingly puts both one's own vehicle and other drivers at risk.

IT HAS BECOME IMPOSSIBLE TO ESCAPE WITH JUST A FINE

Recently, a driver who was drifting in Kadıköy had their license confiscated in addition to receiving a heavy fine, which has caused eyes to turn once again to traffic penalties. It was notable that the police also canceled the driver's license, even though the vehicle had not caused any fatal accident.

The reason for the license cancellation penalty, which the police issued according to the relevant article of the Traffic Law, was that the driver had received a drifting penalty for the second time within 5 years.

FAULT-BASED OFFENSES

• A driver who accumulates 100 penalty points for the second time within the same year will have their license confiscated for 4 months.
• A driver who accumulates 100 penalty points for the third time within the same year will have their license permanently canceled.
• If you are involved in a traffic accident that results in death and are determined to be the at-fault party, your license will be confiscated for 1 year.
• A driver caught driving under the influence of drugs will have their license confiscated for 5 years.
• Exceeding the speed limit by 30% and repeating this violation 5 times within a year will result in the confiscation of your license.
• A driver caught driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.50 promille or higher will be fined and have their license confiscated for 6 months.
• A driver involved in an accident while driving under the influence of alcohol will have their license confiscated for 2 years.
