Attention Istanbul residents: These roads will be closed to traffic today (September 1, 2024)

In Istanbul, some roads will be temporarily closed to traffic this weekend due to the Istanbul triathlon races being held on August 31-September 1.

Approximately 800 local and international athletes will compete in swimming, cycling, and running stages at the event, which is organized under the auspices of the Istanbul Ministry of Youth and Sports, hosted by Beykoz Municipality, and in cooperation with Challenge Family and the Turkish Triathlon Federation.

As part of the organization, which is being held for the 4th time in Beykoz this year, Küçüksu Mihrişah Valide Sultan Street, Atatürk Street, and Göksu Street will be closed to traffic between 05:00 and 13:00 on Saturday, August 31.

For the cycling stage of the organization on Sunday, September 1, the Kavacık-Küçüksu direction will be closed between 05:00 and 09:30, while the other direction, Küçüksu-Kavacık, will continue to operate normally.

The southern lane of the TEM Highway between the War Academies and Kavacık Junction will be closed between 05:30 and 09:30. The Europe-to-Asia direction will be closed, while the other direction, War Academies-Kavacık, will continue to operate normally.

The Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge South Direction (Europe-to-Asia) will be closed to vehicle traffic between 05:30 and 09:30, while the other direction (Asia-to-Europe) will continue to operate normally.

For the running course, the area between Küçüksu and Körfez Street will be closed to traffic in both directions between 06:30 and 10:30.
