Attorney Filiz Saraç receives all votes, renews mandate

Filiz Saraç, the first female president of the 146-year-old Istanbul Bar Association, received all 285 valid votes in the primary elections, renewing her mandate on the path to the presidency for the new term.

Önce İlke Çağdaş Avukatlar Group Istanbul Bar Association Presidential Candidate Attorney Filiz Saraç stated, “We held our primary election, where we determined the Istanbul Bar Association Presidential Candidate and the boards of our Önce İlke Çağdaş Avukatlar Group, with great enthusiasm.

I am experiencing the honor and excitement of being a candidate for this position once again with the support and favor of our group's elected Bar President and our members.

I would like to thank all our colleagues, especially our Election Committee, who upheld our common will in line with the principles and traditions of our Group, came to the ballot box, became candidates, and served on the council.”

“As we have done until today, we will continue to work in the light of Atatürk's Principles and Revolutions for the rule of law, a strong Istanbul Bar Association, an independent judiciary, rights, and justice,” said Attorney Filiz Saraç, continuing her words as follows:

“Lawyers are the founding element of the judiciary. Lawyers and the Bar Associations, which are their professional organizations, have always stood tall against injustice!

We will continue the struggle hand in hand for our profession, our colleagues, our bar association, and our country. Without deviating from our principles, honesty, and justice, we will continue to be a bar association that resists, develops, rejuvenates, and is the voice of the citizen.”

CANDIDATES FOR BOARDS DETERMINED

In the primary election held by the Önce İlke Çağdaş Avukatlar Group on September 14, 2024, the candidates for President, Board of Directors, Disciplinary Board, and Supervisory Board who will participate in the Istanbul Bar Association General Assembly to be held on October 19-20, 2024, were determined.

For the first time in the history of the Önce İlke Çağdaş Avukatlar Group, Attorney Filiz Saraç, who submitted her candidacy to the group's approval despite being the sole candidate and received all 285 valid votes in the primary election, became the Bar Presidential Candidate for the new term.

The Board of Directors member candidates consist of Attorney Bahar Güldaş, Attorney Birsen Baş Topaloğlu, Attorney Özden Başak, Attorney Bahar Ünlüer Öztürk, Attorney Hüseyin Köprülü, and Attorney Dr. Yusuf Can Delipınar; Disciplinary Board member candidates consist of Attorney Semih Özdoğan, Attorney Neriman Uygun, Attorney Nuran Dinç Akgün, Attorney Alev Akbay, and Attorney M. Kemal Alioğlu; and Supervisory Board member candidates consist of Attorney Mehmet Ufuk Yılmaz, Attorney Elif Güngör, and Attorney Onur Temürlenk.
