Austrian citizen found dead in hotel

Basel Malak Gırgıs, an Austrian citizen who arrived in Istanbul 5 days ago, was found dead in his room. It was stated that the foreign national had come to our country for dental treatment and that his death is considered suspicious.

Austrian citizen Basel Malak Gırgıs arrived in our country on November 22.

Checking into a hotel in Beylikdüzü's Cumhuriyet neighborhood, Gırgıs allegedly went to a private hospital for a dental examination the day before yesterday.

He later returned to the hotel. When Gırgıs, who was supposed to check out of the hotel yesterday, did not come out, hotel staff went to the room and knocked on the door.

However, no one answered. Upon this, the staff, suspecting something was wrong, opened the door and entered. 

NO WOUND MARKS

Hotel staff found 55-year-old Basel Malak Gırgıs lying motionless. Police and medical teams were immediately notified.

Medical teams arriving at the scene determined that the Austrian citizen had passed away.

During the examination conducted by police teams, no cutting or piercing wound marks were found on Gırgıs's body. 

SUSPICIOUS DEATH

It was claimed that Gırgıs, whose body was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute morgue, had come to Turkey for dental treatment.

It was learned that the incident, which has been recorded as a suspicious death, is under investigation.
