WHO IS DURSUN YILDIRIM?
Professor Dursun was born in 1946 in the village of Kayabaşı in Rize. He graduated from the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at Istanbul University's Faculty of Letters in 1968. Continuing his academic career at Hacettepe University, Yıldırım earned his doctorate there in the field of Turkish Folklore.
In 1975, he received the title of "University Doctor." In the same year, he served as a visiting professor at the University of Washington in the United States.
In 1980, he earned the title of associate professor with his thesis titled "The Epic of Manas and Köketay Hannıng Ertegüsi." He participated in international conferences on Turkish culture and folklore and presented many papers. He served on the organizing committee of the Turkish Kurultai in 1993 and 1994.
Elected as a member of the Turkish Language Association in 1997, Yıldırım authored various works.
