In Üsküdar, Istanbul, author Murat Koparan was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head in the bathroom on the third floor of the villa where he was reportedly staying. Police teams have launched an investigation into the incident.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, August 25, at approximately 16:15 in the Bahçelievler neighborhood. According to allegations, 37-year-old Koparan spoke on the phone about an hour before the incident with his ex-wife, Elif Feyza Y., whom he had divorced about two years ago.

Stating that she heard a gunshot during the call, Elif Feyza Y. reported the situation to the police. Upon the notification, police, medical, and fire department teams were dispatched to the address.

The fire department teams that reached the villa entered through the balcony with the help of a ladder. During the inspection conducted by the teams, it was determined that Murat Koparan was found in the third-floor bathroom with a gunshot wound to the head.

Medical teams determined that Koparan had lost his life. During the search of the villa, police teams found a handgun that is believed to be unlicensed.

It was stated that Koparan had been staying in the villa, which had been vacant for a long time. The funeral of Murat Koparan, who was a father of four, was laid to rest following the funeral prayer held at the Fatih Edirnekapı Mihrimah Sultan Mosque.
