Avalanche disaster in Van: Avalanche hits a minibus in Başkale district
The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) announced that 1 person lost their life and 12 people were injured after an avalanche hit a minibus in the Başkale district of Van.

In a post on its social media account, AFAD stated, “At approximately 19:14 today, information was received that an avalanche had hit a minibus in the Başkale district of our Van province.
AFAD, 112 Health, and gendarmerie teams have been dispatched to the scene.
As a result of search and rescue efforts, 12 of our citizens were rescued with injuries, and the lifeless body of one citizen was recovered.
We wish God's mercy upon our citizen who lost their life, and extend our condolences to their family and loved ones; we wish a speedy recovery to our injured citizens,” the statement read.
