Avalanche hits Artvin, Halk TV crew stranded

A Halk TV crew became stranded on the road while traveling to the Maçahel summit in Artvin after an avalanche occurred. The blocked road was reopened to traffic following efforts by highway crews.

The weekly live broadcast of the program "Görkemli Hatıralar" (Magnificent Memories) with Serhan Asker, aired on Halk TV, was scheduled to take place from the Maçahel summit in Artvin. However, the crew, who set out to reach the program location, became stranded due to an avalanche triggered by heavy snowfall.

It was reported that snow depth in the region, which sits at an altitude of approximately 2,000 meters, exceeded 3 meters, and the road was completely closed to traffic as a result of the avalanche. Program host Serhan Asker announced that they were stranded on the road with a 25-person team, including Borçka Mayor Ercan Orhan, about 25 minutes away from the summit.

ROAD REOPENED TO TRAFFIC

Following intensive efforts by highway crews, the road blocked by the avalanche was reopened to traffic. The Halk TV program crew was safely evacuated from the area where they were stranded.
