Ayşe Ateş names the person who 'threatened me with FETÖ'

Ayşe Ateş, the wife of former Ülkü Ocakları President Sinan Ateş, who was murdered in the middle of Ankara, described the trial, which has been ongoing for 5 days, as a 'setup theater'. Ateş said, "We call this trial a 'half-court held with an incomplete indictment'. We declare that we find every decision made, whether positive or not, legally incomplete."

In the interim decision given at the hearing, 10 of the 22 detained defendants were released. The request for the report stating that Tolgahan Demirbaş was caught at Olcay Kılavuz's house to be included in the file was rejected. The request to merge the investigation conducted against 17 people with the main case was rejected. The hearing was adjourned to July 19.

Making a statement after the hearing, Sinan Ateş's wife, Ayşe Ateş, stated that she had been threatened, naming "Burak Bekiroğlu".

Ayşe Ateş described the threat made by Burak Bekiroğlu as follows:

"A few weeks ago, an individual named Burak Bekiroğlu tagged me in a post he made and threatened me by saying, 'If you speak again, I will frame you for FETÖ so effectively that you won't be able to save yourself even if you hire a hundred lawyers. I will bury you in Pennsylvania,' and put forward the claim that this murder was instigated by Mustafa Özcan. On top of that, he said, 'You know this truth too.' I filed a criminal complaint against him regarding his threats. He, however, did not submit the information and documents regarding his claim that this murder was instigated by the fugitive FETÖ imam Mustafa Özcan to the prosecutor's office. The defense attorneys kept reheating these flimsy claims and putting them in front of us during the hearing. They did not present any findings or documents. Just like those who speak based on the statement of a hitman that Selman killed Sinan, and those who claim he was cleared. They want to close the case by saying, 'FETÖ did this.' In fact, they are saying, 'You will accept whatever we say, and if you go outside the framework we have drawn, we will ruin you'... I have stepped out, I am stepping out, and I will continue to step out. Let everyone know this. I will shatter that framework you have drawn and throw it under your feet."

"THERE IS NO ESCAPING JUSTICE BY DELETING POSTS"

In a statement she made two weeks ago, Ayşe Ateş described Burak Bekiroğlu's messages to her as follows:

"An individual named Burak Bekiroğlu is naming names to the public about who ordered this heinous murder committed in broad daylight in the heart of Ankara. He is targeting me and making threatening statements. Why are these posts not accepted as a tip-off and why is he not called to testify, why is the information and documents in his possession not requested, and why is he not heard as a witness? We are tired of living with the anxiety of being killed at any moment!"

Ayşe Ateş had also appealed to Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç and Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya, saying, "Don't you see what is happening? These people are afraid of neither the security forces nor justice. Accept what they write as a tip-off. Call them, listen to them, ask for proof of their claims. If he has the slightest bit of evidence regarding the claims he has made about me, Sinan, and this assassination, let him present it. If not, let whatever is legally necessary be done."

Upon Burak Bekiroğlu deleting his social media posts, Ayşe Ateş quoted Bekiroğlu's posts and said, "You will answer for these posts before the judiciary. There is no escaping justice by deleting posts."

WHO IS THIS BURAK BEKİROĞLU?

Following Ayşe Ateş's statements, Burak Bekiroğlu became a subject of curiosity.

Burak Bekiroğlu works as a lawyer.

Known for his closeness to the AKP and MHP, Burak Bekiroğlu had served as a lawyer in the Ergenekon case years ago.

In 2011, the Court of Cassation had decided to merge the 'Molotov cocktail attack on Cumhuriyet Newspaper' case with the First Ergenekon Case.

Burak Bekiroğlu was the lawyer for Boğaç Kaan Murathan, one of the detained defendants in the Molotov cocktail attack on Cumhuriyet Newspaper case. Following the accusations of Bedirhan Şinal, who was recorded as a "false witness" in the Ergenekon case, Boğaç Kaan Murathan was made a defendant and served time in prison. He was released after it was determined that Şinal's claims were a "setup".

SEDAT PEKER DETAIL

The claim that Boğaç Kaan Murathan was a "man" of Sedat Peker, one of the famous names of the underworld, had come to the agenda. Murathan, on the other hand, had stated in the Ergenekon hearings in Silivri that he had no closeness to Sedat Peker other than living in a nearby residence. In the petition he submitted to the court at that time through his lawyer Burak Bekiroğlu, Murathan described his conflict with Sedat Peker as follows:

"Murathan said in his petition, 'My acquaintance with Sedat Peker, which existed in the past and occurred solely because we resided in the same neighborhood, is the main reason for my grievances. I have no spiritual, material, legal, or actual connection with Peker, and we do not even greet each other.'"

Burak Bekiroğlu also serves as the lawyer for the Platform for Civil Struggle against FETÖ (Social Justice and Solidarity Association-TAYDER).
