Ayşe Ateş's striking jab at Bahçeli's words: 'It led to Balgat'

Ayşe Ateş, the wife of Sinan Ateş, made a statement on her social media account evaluating the verdict hearing and the trial process. Recalling MHP leader Bahçeli's words, "Does it lead to Pennsylvania, or somewhere else?", Ateş referred to the MHP Headquarters and said, "It led to Balgat."

The verdict was announced yesterday in the trial regarding the murder of former Ülkü Ocakları President Sinan Ateş, who was killed in an armed attack in Ankara on December 30, 2022.

The court panel sentenced five of the 11 defendants on trial to aggravated life imprisonment.

Eray Özyağcı, who pulled the trigger; Vedat Balkaya, who drove the motorcycle used in the escape from the scene; and Suat Kurt, who conducted reconnaissance before the murder, were sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of "premeditated murder."

Doğukan Çep, who was accused of instigation in the indictment, was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for "premeditated murder," and Tolgahan Demirbaş was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for "instigating premeditated murder."

ATEŞ'S JAB AT BAHÇELİ

Sinan Ateş's wife, Ayşe Ateş, made a lengthy evaluation of the trial process and the verdict in a post on her social media account. Ateş targeted the MHP, Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, and the Ülkü Ocakları due to their attitudes toward her family. 

Ateş included the following statements in her explanation: 

The first leg of our struggle for justice, which gained momentum with Devlet Bahçeli's statement, "The indictment must be accepted as soon as possible, the trial must begin!" during the days when we expressed that we found the indictment incomplete and that it should be rewritten, concluded with the verdict hearing held yesterday.

It is strange that we observe today that those who posted, "You were saying 'Indictment, indictment!' Here is your indictment!" after that statement are not satisfied with the decisions made within the framework of that indictment.

"IT LED TO BALGAT"

In that statement made from Parliament, the sentences, "Does it lead to Pennsylvania, or somewhere else?" were also uttered.

In the same indictment, Ülkü Ocakları Headquarters Executive Tolgahan Demirbaş, who was accused of helping hitman Eray Özyağcı escape from Ankara to Istanbul in a vehicle with license plate 06 AT 5021 allocated to Ülkü Ocakları President Ahmet Yiğit Yıldırım, received an aggravated life sentence, while Ülkü Ocakları Deputy President Emre Yüksel was sentenced to 18 years in prison.

In other words, as a result of the trial, this political murder led to Balgat. Yet, from the very beginning, I had emphasized that one should not look too far. From the very first moment the heinous attack took place, a group that tried to put pressure on both the Police and the Judiciary, and targeted every prosecutor and every police officer who wanted to deepen the investigation, began to bring up the claim that the decisions made were a setup.

If there is a setup, those who made this setup are those who, for the sake of their personal ambition, greed, and future, trampled on all the sacred values of the Nationalist Movement (Ülkücü Hareket) and gave Emre Yüksel and Tolgahan Demirbaş the vehicle allocated to the Ülkü Ocakları President to transport the hired killer from Ankara to Istanbul; they are the ones who incited the hired killers Doğukan Çep and Eray Özyağcı to commit this political murder.

Furthermore, the people whose collars the family of Tolgahan Demirbaş—who harassed me at the end of the hearing yesterday as if I were the one who dragged their children into this crime—should go and grab are those in the group I listed above.

"WE HAVE NO LIFE SECURITY"

As you are aware, an attack took place at the Sincan Courthouse yesterday, which is a harbinger of what will happen to Sinan Ateş's family, children, relatives, and loved ones in the coming period.

It has been reflected in the press with documents that Mertcan Kılıç, who carried out the attack and is currently under arrest, is a member of the Gölbaşı Ülkü Ocakları. If justice is not fully established, and if all the criminals are not caught and receive the punishment they deserve, we fear and suspect that new attacks will take place with increasing violence.

While facts such as having children followed, locating a person who criticized them on social media through the Police, accessing all personal information instantly with a greeting, and physical attacks carried out after this access are standing before us, no one can convince us that we have life security. Similarly, the lives of journalists and politicians who are targeted are also under threat.

"SECOND INDICTMENT"

I have always stated: This trial was conducted for us with a half-court established with an incomplete indictment. Consequently, although the court process has ended and there are those who were tried and sentenced as "instigators," the question of why Sinan Ateş was murdered remains unanswered. The answer to this question is hidden in the separated file.

I have no doubt that the information, documents, and evidence in the separated file will reveal the political leg of this political murder in a way that leaves no room for doubt, and will bring the real instigators to light.

That is why I want the public to know that from now on, I will fight with all my might for the investigation into the suspects in the separated file to be completed and for the prosecution phase to begin. Justice is the key to social peace and tranquility. Undoubtedly, every mistake made by judicial bodies and every wrong decision they make will cause great harm to the environment of social peace and tranquility tomorrow.

This is why I constantly demand that the path of the judiciary be cleared, that political pressure on the judiciary be removed, and that the barrier placed in front of the criminals be demolished.

Finally, I would like to thank once again all the political party leaders who stood by us without displaying any negative attitude or harboring any political hostility in the tough struggle we have been waging against those who have tried to turn injustice into justice to cover up the crime committed since the day Sinan Ateş was murdered, and every honest, conscientious, fair, and moral individual in our country who acts with the same thought and intention.
