Tekirdağ Bar Association President Egemen Gürcün held a press conference regarding the investigation into the violence and sexual abuse suffered by baby Sıla in the Malkara district.
Gürcün stated at the press conference held at the bar association that they organized the meeting to share information they deemed important while adhering to the confidentiality order on the investigation file.
Gürcün said, "On the 8th, when the latest incident of her not waking up occurred, they applied to the hospital, and upon the detection of very serious findings of sexual abuse and wounds on the child's body at the hospital, the situation was immediately reported to the investigative authorities.
However, it must be stated that even before these findings were made, the decision-making authority had already issued a decision for the child to be taken under protection.
I hope our baby Sıla will regain her health. In my meeting with the chief physician, I received information that our child's condition is poor and stable at this stage.
Since the effects of the brain hemorrhage occurred in more than one place, our baby is facing trauma. Our prayers are with our baby,” he said.
MOTHER CONCEALED THE FINDINGS
Stating that as the Tekirdağ Bar Association, they will fight for all suspects to be punished in the most severe way, Gürcün expressed that the mother of baby Sıla not only concealed the crime but was also negligent, saying, "On September 2, the mother, Bakiye Y., brought her child, Sıla Y., to the hospital claiming she had fallen, and filed a complaint. However, 3 days after filing the complaint, she handed her child back to the house where the person she complained about lived.
In this sense, we are talking about a mother who, instead of identifying what happened to her child and applying to judicial authorities to file a criminal complaint due to these events to ensure a necessary investigation was conducted, concealed the findings she obtained regarding her child and did not take her child to the hospital until the 8th," he said.
Gürcün said, "We know that there were other children in the house and a very elderly grandmother present at the time the sexual abuse took place. We learned that two children who were dragged into crime closed the door and committed this heinous act on the baby. The prosecutor's office has seized all digital data, and they are being examined. We have learned that additional investigations will be carried out regarding any other crimes or suspicions of crime."
"HER BIOLOGICAL FATHER DOES NOT ACCEPT THE CHILD"
Continuing his statement, Gürcün said, “Mother Bakiye Y. is a person who was released from prison about 2-2.5 months before the incident. She was detained and arrested on charges of 'using or selling drugs.' During the time she was arrested, her aunts looked after her children. But as soon as she got out, she took her children back. And afterwards, she stayed at the house of one of the suspects.
And during this time, she left her child at the house across the street. This is how the incident occurred. Neither of the adult suspects is the father or stepfather of the child who was sexually abused. Bakiye Y.'s marital status here is married. However, she has not been in contact with the person she has been married to for 4-5 years.
The child's biological father lives in another province and does not accept the child. In fact, we are talking about an incident that was coming in plain sight. Bakiye's sisters reached out to us and told us that they had warned Bakiye many times. They are very upset about this incident and told us that all suspects should be punished in the most severe way,” he said.
