Backlash from AKP and HÜDA-PAR against Esra Erol's 'Sharia' remark! They complained about ATV to the Palace

Host Esra Erol, who presents a program on the pro-government channel ATV, responded to a guest's comment that "the hand cut by Sharia does not ache" by saying, "There is no Sharia here, it exists in the Middle East." Erol, who was targeted on social media, faced harsh criticism from AKP and HÜDA-PAR accounts, as well as a member of the RTÜK.

Following Erol's words, applause erupted in the studio, and the moment left its mark on the live broadcast.

Complaining about the ATV management to the Palace, HÜDA-PAR Gaziantep Deputy Şehzade Demir, in a post on his X account, "What is behind this obsession with Esra Erol? Why does the ATV management insist on keeping Esra Erol on television and turning a blind eye to her committing these abominations, despite all the reactions and the attacks she makes on our values? Is it about ratings? If it is about ratings, it is not wrong to say that our faith, our values, and general morality are being sacrificed for ratings. On behalf of society, we ask: When will Esra Erol's program be shut down and when will this woman be fired from television?" he stated.


Yusuf Kaplan, one of the columnists for the pro-government newspaper Yeni Şafak, Yusuf Kaplan also stated in his post, "Esra Erol, know your place. Do not attempt to belittle the nation's values. There is no Sharia in the Middle East. There are petrodollar slaves. Sharia is a concept too sublime for your mind to grasp. It is the source of the justice, equity, and mercy that made the Ottoman Empire a world power." he included.

In his next post, Kaplan used the following expressions:

"What is it like to be so metamorphosed that you cannot even be a child of the Ottomans! To be a leashed locust in love with its executioner. ATV, I protest you vehemently! Who and what are you serving?"


RTÜK MEMBER ALSO TARGETED HER

RTÜK Member Paşa Yaşar was also among those who targeted Esra Erol.

Yaşar, in his post using the hashtags "Sharia is Justice" and "Ottoman Justice," stated the following:

"What happened on Esra Erol's latest program is an example of unacceptable insolence! When the guest said, 'The hand cut by Sharia does not ache,' she immediately jumped in and tried to belittle Islam's most supreme justice system by saying, 'There is no Sharia here, it exists in the Middle East.' This is an ignorant generalization and a conscious distortion!

True Sharia is not in the shadow of petrodollar regimes, kingdoms, and dictatorships in the Middle East; it is a divine order based on justice, equity, mercy, and equality. It was this understanding of Sharia that made the Ottoman Empire a world power for centuries, stood by the oppressed, and cut off tyranny at its root. The saying 'The hand cut by Sharia does not ache' expresses exactly this justice – punishment based on truth, not on whim! Esra Erol must stop offending the nation's religious values for the sake of ratings. 

Someone who already poisons society by pumping moral decay and twisted relationships into her programs is now also casting aspersions on the source of religion. This is not an excusable mistake; it is a systematic disrespect!

I support Yusuf Hoca and everyone who defends the true understanding of Islam. Instead of these types of broadcasts that pollute the screens, let there be content that elevates our nation's values. Let there be hosts who know their place! Esra Erol, know your place! Do not attempt to belittle the nation's values!"
