Bad news for those with 'General Health Insurance' debt
Citizens with General Health Insurance debt will not be able to benefit from health services starting January 1.

The General Health Insurance (GSS) system has been in effect since January 1, 2012, for citizens without social security coverage. Individuals with debt to the system will not be able to benefit from health services as of January 1. Notifications have begun to be sent to those who have not undergone an income test.
In Turkey, more than 9 million people are covered by GSS and pay premiums at a rate of 3 percent of the gross minimum wage. The premium amount determined for 2024 was set at 600 liras. Individuals who declare that they do not have the ability to pay can receive health services free of charge by undergoing an income test.
The Social Security Institution (SGK) has begun sending notifications to citizens who have not undergone an income test and have premium debt. Those who do not pay their debt will not be able to benefit from health services as of January 1.
