According to data from the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the epicenter of the earthquake was in the Sındırgı district, occurring at a depth of 11 kilometers at 19:53. Following the earthquake, reports of building collapses and damage were received from various provinces.
Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya, in a statement made in the earthquake zone, reported that a building had collapsed in the Sındırgı district center. Yerlikaya announced that three people were rescued from the rubble alive, but one person had lost their life. He also stated that gendarmerie teams are continuing search and rescue operations in the surrounding villages.

Sındırgı Mayor Serkan Sak provided information about the collapses in the district center in his statement. Mayor Sak stated that six people lived in the collapsed building, noting that 60-70 percent of the district has been reached and that there are collapses in many neighborhoods. He also expressed that they have not yet received news from some regions and that there are communication problems due to issues with GSM operators.
