Bağcıoğlu: We would manage the defense industry better than this government

CHP Deputy Chairman responsible for National Defense Policies, Yankı Bağcıoğlu, made critical assessments regarding the future of the sector following the SAHA EXPO International Defense, Aviation and Space Industry Fair. Expressing that the stage reached by the Turkish defense industry and its export potential are sources of pride, Bağcıoğlu also pointed out that there are serious structural problems regarding resource utilization, merit, and coordination. Stating, "We would manage the defense industry better than this government," Bağcıoğlu shared his party's strategic roadmap.

MASS PRODUCTION AND RESOURCE EFFICIENCY WILL BE OUR PRIORITY

Bağcıoğlu emphasized that while innovative solutions are valuable, true success comes from mass production. Drawing attention to the financial burden of projects that remain in laboratory conditions, Bağcıoğlu said, "Being creative is good, but more importantly, one must be able to engage in mass production. Let us not be a prototype paradise; let us have a strong Turkey and a strong Turkish Armed Forces (TSK)." Stating that resources should be prioritized not based on political motives, but directly according to national security and the doctrinal needs of the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK), Bağcıoğlu stated that they would prevent the waste of effort caused by assigning different companies to the same product.

AN ERA OF MERIT AND TRANSPARENCY IN THE DEFENSE INDUSTRY

Arguing that one of the most fundamental problems in the sector is merit, Bağcıoğlu said that every step taken when they come to power will be in the light of knowledge and experience. Noting that they view the defense industry as a "matter of national survival" and that they will make existing successful projects more institutionalized rather than stopping them, Bağcıoğlu added: "We will establish a structure that is auditable and free from political pressure. We will make tender processes and resource transfers transparent. By ensuring coordination through an effective council structure, we will keep our defense industry above politics as the common work of all Republican governments and our nation."
