Bahçeli had called for it, but MHP did not vote on the motion: AKP voted 'no'

Taking the floor on the motion, İYİ Party Ankara Deputy Ahmet Eşref Fakıbaba pointed out that surgeries performed in civilian hospitals differ from interventions required under wartime conditions.

Fakıbaba said, "You can perform appendicitis, gallbladder, stomach, intestinal, cancer, and similar surgeries in a civilian hospital, but in war, there are shrapnel wounds, landmine explosions, gunshot wounds, and multiple organ injuries; there are moments when seconds, not minutes, save lives." he said.

Fakıbaba stated that Turkey is the only NATO country without a military hospital or a military medical academy. Expressing that it is not right to deprive the Turkish Armed Forces, which serve on three continents and fight against terrorism beyond the borders, of their own military health system, Fakıbaba argued that military hospitals should be reopened in this regard.

REMINDED OF BAHÇELİ'S STATEMENTS

Fakıbaba also touched upon the statements made by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, a partner in the People's Alliance, regarding military hospitals. Stating that Bahçeli had said, "Today, Turkey is the only country in NATO that does not have a military hospital, and it is of vital importance to reopen military hospitals and incorporate them into the army," Fakıbaba said they welcomed these statements.

Stating that as the İYİ Party, they have constantly raised this issue, submitted legislative proposals, and research motions but have not received any results, Fakıbaba expressed that the fact that their previously rejected proposals are now being defended by the People's Alliance is an indication of their justification.

Fakıbaba called for common sense in Parliament, saying, "Because the issue is not politics; the issue is the life of the Mehmetçik (Turkish soldier) and the security of our nation. Let us meet on common ground on this matter, reopen military hospitals, re-establish the military medical system, and revive the Refik Saydam Hygiene Institute, because a strong state is a state that can sustain its army and its health system with its own institutions." he said.

ÖZDAĞ: TAKE REVENGE FROM INDIVIDUALS, NOT INSTITUTIONS

New Way (Yeni Yol) Group Deputy Chairman Selçuk Özdağ stated that when looking at Ottoman history, it is seen that almost no institution was closed, and that in history, only one was closed, which was the Janissary Corps. Expressing that they realized they had made a mistake and tried to reform the institution but failed, Özdağ said, "Institutions are not closed, friends; institutions are reformed, revised, and reorganized, and it is desired that those institutions survive in this way."

Reminding that "military high schools and GATA medical faculties and hospitals were closed after the treacherous July 15 FETÖ coup attempt," Özdağ said, "If we set out with this logic, if we set out with this hypothesis, we should have also closed the Presidency; FETÖ members were caught there too, aides-de-camp were caught. We should have closed the Parliament too; ByLock users were found among some here as well. GATA is very important." he said.

In his speech, calling for belief in science, technology, and institutions, Özdağ said, "If someone has committed a crime in institutions, do not take revenge from the institutions by saying 'there is a principle of personal criminal liability,' friends; take revenge from those individuals. And the law can take that, not individuals, my dear friends." he used the expressions.

MHP GROUP DID NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE VOTING

The motion was not accepted in the vote held after the deputies' evaluations. During the voting of the motion, when asked for those in favor and those against, the MHP group did not participate in the voting.

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli had called for the strengthening of the Gülhane spirit at his party's parliamentary group meeting this week, stating that it was a matter of national survival and saying, "Our debt to our Mehmetçik standing guard for the homeland, our dear martyrs, and our heroic veterans is the reopening of military hospitals."
