Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality has taken modern steps to emphasize its corporate identity and strengthen communication with citizens by updating its logo to be suitable for digital communication. The municipality's "B" letter, used since 2014, was simplified based on the map of Balıkesir and redesigned with themes of "love" and "embrace."

PASSED UNANIMOUSLY BY THE COUNCIL

The new logo, which was accepted unanimously by the Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipal Council, was designed to reflect the unique nature of Balıkesir, including its two seas and the Kaz Mountains. The letter "B" of Balıkesir was created in turquoise, a combination of blue, symbolizing the sea, and green, representing the forest. Turquoise holds an important place in Turkish-Islamic art and is derived from the word "Turquois," which means "Turkish" in French.

"WILL NOT BRING ADDITIONAL COSTS"

Balıkesir Metropolitan Mayor Ahmet Akın announced that the logo is the product of a voluntary collaborative effort by a group of academics and graphic designers, and therefore no payment was made from the municipality's budget. Mayor Akın also stated that existing printed documents and signs featuring the old logo will continue to be used without being replaced. Emphasizing that the old design will be used until these stocks are exhausted and the signs become unusable due to natural wear and tear, Akın said that this change will not bring any additional costs to the municipality.
