Surprising connection of a neighborhood watchman in the Barış Boyun operation: He drew a weapon on police teams

 Organized Crime units engaged in a high-speed chase with gang members during an operation against the Barış Boyun group. It was revealed that in the incident, which took place in 2023, a neighborhood watchman had smuggled Barış Boyun gang members into Istanbul.

According to the report by Dinçer Gökçe from Halktv.com.tr, Organized Crime units received intelligence that two key members of the Barış Boyun group, Doruk Ersu Büyüktunç and Oğuz Halıcı, were being brought from İzmir to Istanbul. Police took precautions on the Gebze direction of the Osmangazi Bridge. As the expected vehicle was traveling toward the Dilovası direction of the Northern Marmara Motorway around 16:40 on June 16, 2023, the teams took action.

The teams followed the vehicle for a while. Around 17:40, warnings were issued to the vehicle. The vehicle, which was ordered to stop, began to flee. From that moment on, a challenging chase began in traffic between the police teams and the vehicle containing 4 people.

THEY JUMPED FROM THE VEHICLE AND FLED INTO THE WOODED AREA

The vehicle, which exited from the Paşaköy toll booths, began to head toward Şile. The vehicle, continuing its escape, slowed down after traveling for a while longer. At this moment, Doruk Ersu Büyüktunç and Oğuz Halıcı, who were in the vehicle, jumped out and fled into the wooded area. Some of the teams went after the pair who fled into the woods, while others pursued the fleeing vehicle.

The fleeing vehicle began to swerve in front of the police car after a while. At this point, the police opened fire on the tires of the fleeing vehicle. Although the vehicle continued for a while with punctured tires, it could not go any further.

HE FELL INTO A WATER CHANNEL WHILE FLEEING FROM THE POLICE

The person who got out of the driver's seat pointed his weapon at the police and fled into the wooded area. A woman named Umida Reyimova, who was in the vehicle, fell into a water channel while trying to escape into the woods. Although Reyimova was caught after falling into the channel, the 3 people who entered the wooded area could not be apprehended.

The police increased the number of road checkpoints to catch the 3 fugitives. During this time, a motorcyclist named Gökhan Yıldırım was stopped. This person later provided information about someone who had sent him a location. The teams went to the specified location and, after a while, apprehended a person carrying a weapon. It was understood that this person was the driver of the fleeing vehicle. A background check revealed that this person was an active-duty neighborhood watchman named Fatih Daş.

While police teams continued their efforts to catch Büyüktunç and Halıcı, a vehicle with two people inside arrived near the vehicle driven by Fatih Daş around 00:30. During the identity check, it was determined that one of the two people who arrived was Daş's brother, Ahmet Faruk Daş, and the other was Muhammet Ergün. It was understood that the pair had come to pick up the fugitives in the wooded area. In the ongoing investigation, Ersin Çil, who was the person involved in picking up the individuals who fled into the woods, was also caught in front of a business belonging to Barış Boyun's older brother, Zafer Boyun.

KILLED IN GREECE IN SEPTEMBER 2023

It was determined that Büyüktunç and Halıcı, who had fled into the wooded area, were later taken from Istanbul to Sakarya in a vehicle that also contained Muhammed Fatih Fidan, an officer serving at the Gaziosmanpaşa District Police Department. It was understood that in addition to police officer Fidan, Sergen Acur, Akif Armağan, and Berat Çınar, who were members of the Barış Boyun group, were also in that vehicle.

Meanwhile, Doruk Ersu Büyüktunç, who came from İzmir to Istanbul with the help of neighborhood watchman Fatih Daş and escaped from Istanbul to Sakarya with the help of police officer Muhammed Fatih Fidan, was killed in Greece on September 13, 2023, along with 5 people accompanying him. Oğuz Halıcı was caught on July 3, 2023, while trying to flee to Georgia.
