CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır has reacted to the Ministry of National Defense (MSB) filing a lawsuit against CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, citing the expressions he used regarding the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) as the reason.
Making evaluations regarding the agenda at a press conference he held at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), Başarır took the podium with a photograph of Ebru Eroğlu, one of the dismissed lieutenants.
Başarır used the following expressions in his statement:
"Do not drag the army into politics; you have already dragged the judiciary into it. We wake up every day to a dirty and flawed investigation. People do not trust the judiciary, and the President is to blame for this. Now, he is trying to exert influence on politics through the army in the same way. He used to criticize this in the 90s. We invite this country's Chief of General Staff, force commanders, and soldiers to stay away from partisan politics. He is trying to exert influence on politics with the judiciary and the army, supposedly under the title of 'Commander-in-Chief'. We never, ever accept this. Review these lawsuits once again."
