BBP Chair Destici: Those with fault and intent will certainly be brought to light

BBP Chairman Mustafa Destici visited the Sivas Journalists Association and met with President Kemal Doğan. In his statement, Destici evaluated the arrests in the Yazıcıoğlu case.

Destici said, "The Kahramanmaraş Chief Public Prosecutor's Office sending the file to Ankara was, of course, a very important stage. In my previous speech in Sivas, I said that this broad investigation process in Ankara would soon have results. And as a result, the first wave of operations took place on June 12 and July 13, and detention warrants were issued for 29 people. Two were abroad and two were already in custody, so 25 people were detained.

After a four-day investigation process, today, arrest decisions were made for 19 people, and judicial control decisions were made for 8 people. The process regarding them is ongoing. When we look at this incident, there are several important suspicions. One of them, in our opinion, is that there were planes that started following the helicopter from the moment it took off. It was initially said that there were none, but it was later confirmed by incoming radar information and information from the Air Force.

There are other suspicions as well. There is the suspicion of carbon monoxide, and there are different decisions made by the forensic medicine institution at the scene. Today, there are faxes sent to 17 different places by the police intelligence branch manager who was arrested, stating that 'they were saved,' and there is the fact that the radars malfunctioned for a few minutes. Therefore, all these suspicions point to an organization. We have said from the very beginning, 'We will not call this an accident while these suspicions are present,'" he said.

"Those who deserve it will receive the punishment they deserve"

Stating that those with negligence and intent will receive the punishment they deserve, Destici said, "There is a clever design here that covers both inside Turkey and abroad. We have an experienced deputy chief prosecutor within the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office who is conducting this investigation. While a prosecutor in Maraş was looking at the file, there is now a deputy chief prosecutor and two prosecutors. Our Ministry of Justice and the commission investigating unsolved cases are also continuing to investigate this file. Our President's sensitivity is also clear. The determination of our Minister of Justice, Mr. Akın Gürlek, regarding these unsolved files and his superior sensitivity regarding the martyrdom of our President Muhsin and our friends is present. Hopefully, this process will continue, and those who have fault and intent will certainly be brought to light. These suspicions will be clarified, and those who deserve it will receive the punishment they deserve," he said.

Underlining that they will be the followers of the case, Destici said the following:

"The public conscience of both the families of our martyrs, our community, and all of Turkey will be relieved. It is clear that there was negligence; if there were no negligence, the case would not have lasted 17 years. It was first examined in Kahramanmaraş and then for 3-4 years in Malatya. Some of those arrested today were also arrested back then. But they did not speak or were not allowed to speak. These people mentioned who were arrested today had been arrested at that time and remained in custody for 8-9 months. Two decisions of non-prosecution were issued. All of this shows that there was a lack of seriousness and negligence. But today, with a strong will, hopefully, it will be clarified. As the Great Unity Party (BBP), just as we have been followers of this process from the beginning to ensure it is clarified, we will continue to fight for this from now on."
