BDDK has announced! Turkey's wealthiest and most indebted cities have been revealed

According to 2024 data from the BDDK, Turkey's provinces with the highest foreign currency and gold wealth have been identified. While Istanbul ranks at the top for gold deposits, it also stands out as the most indebted province. Aksaray and several other Anatolian cities were found to have the highest levels of foreign currency accounts.

The Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK) has released its nine-month data for 2024, revealing Turkey's most indebted provinces as well as those with the highest gold and foreign currency wealth. Istanbul took the top spot in gold deposits, while also remaining Turkey's most indebted province. According to the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency data, the share of foreign currency accounts in total deposits in Turkey has decreased, though it remains high in certain provinces.

ISTANBUL LEADS IN GOLD DEPOSITS

In the gold deposit rankings, Istanbul topped the list with 439.7 billion TL, followed by Ankara with 149 billion TL and Izmir with 78.9 billion TL.

WHICH IS THE MOST INDEBTED PROVINCE?

According to the list, Gaziantep is in 10th place with 1 billion TL. It is followed by Mersin with 1.1 billion TL, and Kocaeli with 1.2 billion TL. Adana, Antalya, and Bursa also appeared on the list with 1.7 billion TL in debt each.

Istanbul ranks first on the list of most indebted provinces with 10.1 billion TL, followed by Izmir in second place with 3.2 billion TL. Ankara is in third place with 3.1 billion TL.

Among provinces with the highest total deposits, Istanbul leads the list with 7.3 trillion lira. It is followed by Ankara, Izmir, Antalya, and Bursa.
