Behind-the-scenes 'early election date' talk in People's Alliance corridors: 'Erdoğan will say bring it on'
Key figures in the People's Alliance, formed by the AKP and MHP, have argued that CHP leader Özgür Özel's calls for an early election are meaningless. They stated, "The date for an early election will not be determined by Özgür Özel, but by President Erdoğan and MHP leader Bahçeli, in other words, the People's Alliance."

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel continues to call for an early election following the March 31 local elections.
Regarding an early election, Özel said, “There are 5 years between two elections. The midpoint is 2.5 years. If Erdoğan does not have Parliament take an early election decision, he cannot run again. Let's renew the elections when the 2.5-year mark arrives; if Erdoğan trusts himself, he will come again, and we will compete.” Özel stated that they would not look favorably upon early election demands that might come after that date.
According to a report in Gazete Duvar, the People's Alliance front, formed by the AKP and MHP, is of the opinion that Özel's calls for an early election are meaningless.
"ERDOĞAN WILL SAY 'BRING IT ON' AT THE RIGHT TIME"
Key figures argue that AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will say “bring it on” for an early election at the time most suitable for him, and that when he does, the opposition will not be able to run away.
"THE PEOPLE'S ALLIANCE, NOT ÖZEL, WILL DETERMINE THE EARLY ELECTION"
Stating, “Whenever the call for an early election is made, they will have to say yes,” the key figures added, “Do they have any other choice? The date for an early election will not be determined by Özgür Özel, but by President Erdoğan and MHP leader Bahçeli, in other words, the People's Alliance.”
