At an unnamed thermal hotel in Ankara, a family that ordered Turkish coffee was served bleach instead of water alongside their coffee.
Unaware of the situation, the family gave the bleach, which had arrived with the coffee, to their 2-year-old daughter who said she was thirsty, thinking it was water. After the incident was realized, Leyla, who was having difficulty breathing and fell ill, was rushed to the hospital.
It was stated that an investigation has been launched against the hotel and the waiter on charges of "negligent injury."
According to the report in Habertürk, an investigation into the incident at the thermal hotel in the Kızılcahamam district of Ankara revealed that the bleach in the plastic bottle had been served because it was mistaken for water after being left on the kitchen counter.
While it was announced that 2-year-old Leyla is in good health, it was learned that the Kızılcahamam Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has filed a criminal complaint regarding the incident against the family, the hotel, and the waiter. It was learned that the mother, who gave a statement regarding the events, said, "They put bleach in a plastic bottle and left it on the counter. Then they forgot it there. The waiter, thinking it was water in that bottle, poured it into our glass, added a slice of lemon, and served it. It was impossible for me to realize it was bleach."
