Blood was shed over an inheritance dispute: The killer who murdered 3 people has not been caught for 981 days

Mehmet Yılmaz, who murdered three people in Kayseri, has been on the run for 981 days.

The incident occurred on January 3, 2022, on Gavremoğlu Street in the Hunat neighborhood of the Melikgazi district. An argument between Mehmet Yılmaz and his cousins, Seyit Yılmaz and Gaffar Mehmet Yılmaz, over an inheritance quickly escalated into a fight.

Serdar Yılmaz, the uncle of the brothers Seyit and Gaffar Mehmet, also joined the argument. At that moment, Mehmet Yılmaz pulled a pistol from his waistband and opened fire on the two brothers and Serdar Yılmaz.

A stray bullet that ricocheted off the ground also struck M.A., who was passing by the scene. The Yılmaz brothers died at the scene, while their uncle, Serdar Yılmaz, passed away at the hospital to which he had been taken.

HAS NOT BEEN CAUGHT FOR 981 DAYS

Following the incident, a lawsuit was filed against the fugitive Mehmet Yılmaz, seeking three consecutive life sentences for intentional homicide.

The fugitive defendant has not been caught for 981 days.

Ayla Yılmaz, the mother of Seyit and Gaffar Yılmaz, expressed her reaction to the fact that the murder suspect has not been apprehended.

“The killer is still nowhere to be found. Everyone heard that after committing the murder, he wandered around my house, shouting that he wanted to slaughter my other son, my brother, and me with the gun in his hand,” said the grieving mother. “Three people were slaughtered in the middle of the city. A friend of his named Mehmet Y. came to our house and confessed that he had driven him around, and that he was still looking for us with a gun in his hand. Mehmet Y. said that after driving him around until 12:00, they handed the killer over to his lawyer and sent him away. His lawyer took him from there and helped the killer escape to Ankara,” she stated.

'HE CONSTANTLY THREATENS US, CALLS OUR RELATIVES'

Stating that she wants justice, mother Yılmaz continued:

“I buried three of my loved ones, all so young. I don't understand what they wanted from my child who was a student. My eldest son's 1.5-year-old child was left an orphan. He had just gotten married. My brother's 14-year-old daughter was left an orphan. His wife as well. They had nothing to do with this. What did they want from them? Where is this serial killer right now? He constantly makes threats and calls our relatives. He threatens us. We tell these things to the police, but we get no results. I ask our police, our governor, and our state officials to please take an interest in us. Please find a remedy for our plight.”
