Bodies of 2 more workers recovered in İliç mine disaster

The bodies of Ramazan Çimen and Kenan Öz, who were among the workers trapped under the soil during the landslide that occurred at the mine in the İliç district of Erzincan on February 13, have been recovered.

The remains of the workers have been taken to the morgue.

MINISTER BAYRAKTAR ANNOUNCED ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar stated, "We have reached two more of our worker brothers following the landslide that occurred at the mine site in Erzincan's İliç."

Bayraktar announced on his social media account that search efforts for the workers who lost their lives following the landslide in Erzincan's İliç are ongoing and that two more workers have been reached.

In his post, Minister Bayraktar said, "We have reached two more of our worker brothers during the search efforts that have been continuing uninterrupted since the first day of the landslide at the mine site in Erzincan's İliç. Our teams are continuing their work 24/7 to reach our other 5 miners. I pray for God's mercy upon our worker brothers and extend my condolences to their grieving families."

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

A landslide occurred at around 14:30 on Tuesday, February 13, at the Çöpler Mine, where Anagold Mining has been producing gold since December 2010.

It was stated that a mass with a volume calculated at 10 million cubic meters had slid. 9 workers at the mine were trapped under this mass.

While the bodies of some of the workers have been recovered, search efforts for the remaining workers are ongoing.
