The CHP's Özcan had called on his party via X not to participate in a commission named the 'Terror-Free Turkey Commission,' stating, "We must not be a partner in the game orchestrated by the evil alliance of the AKP, MHP, and DEM!"
In another post, Özcan wrote, "Let's see, other than the personal problems of the PKK and its ringleaders, which Kurdish citizen's problems will be discussed in this commission? Will the problems of unemployed, poor, landless Kurds, or those lacking schools and hospitals be addressed? I think not! The US tells us, 'There is a Kurdish issue in your country!' And politicians, without grasping the issue, say 'We will solve it!' Please, someone explain to me what this Kurdish issue is, other than the general justice and economic problems in the country, and what the commission will solve!"
Özcan's posts were put to Özel during a broadcast on Sözcü TV.
"HE EXCEEDED HIS LIMITS"
The CHP Chairman reacted to Özcan: "Here (referring to the tweet where Özcan used the term 'evil alliance'), Tanju exceeded his limits. He can come and tell me his suggestions, but regarding the CHP's stance on a commission to be established in Parliament; he exceeded his limits here. But yes, the issues to be discussed should be debated."
Özcan responded to Özel on X:
"As one of the first people to tell him that he would one day become chairman, and as a party member who has found him very successful until the latest decision; as someone who has served as CHP youth branch president, district and provincial president, municipal council member, and member of parliament since the age of 22, and who is currently serving a second term as mayor in Bolu—where we are the third-largest party in general elections—with 54 percent of the vote, far surpassing the AKP, and who calls out wrong as wrong within the framework of responsibility, hearing the words 'He exceeded his limits' regarding my suggestion of 'Let us not sit at the same table with evil partners' both surprised and deeply saddened me!! But I still want to trust not in the decision you have made, but in your good intentions. I hope I am wrong and you turn out to be right!"
The Bolu mayor added the following to his post: "On the other hand, if the gods demand a sacrifice, do not put yourselves in a difficult position."
