Following the arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, a major wave of reaction has risen across Turkey.

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel, in his speech at Saraçhane Square in Istanbul, called for a boycott of certain brands and products.

The boycott call found its response within minutes, so to speak. The websites of Idefix and D&R experienced interruptions, and messages stating that the site is currently under maintenance appeared on the screen.

The boycott list was shared thousands of times, especially on social media.

Journalist and author Sedef Kabaş also supported the boycott, stating the following in a post on her social media account:

“The era of calling those who do not bow to pressure and who face unemployment, violence, threats, lynching, and imprisonment 'fools,' while thinking of themselves as 'smart,' is over! Those who rely on this society's 'short memory' and disappear will never again receive appreciation, applause, ratings, awards, followers, or whatever else from this society…”
