Breaking: Ankara Metropolitan Municipality files criminal complaint against Melih Gökçek!

The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) announced that a criminal complaint will be filed against former mayor Melih Gökçek.

The full text of the statement issued by ABB is as follows:

PUBLIC STATEMENT

The claims made by former Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Melih Gökçek,

"There was a 3rd line, we were using it, Mansur Yavaş did not connect it," do not reflect the truth.

Official documents dated 2012 from the ASKİ General Directorate archives have been presented to the public.

These documents clearly demonstrate that the 3rd line in question was taken out of service during Gökçek's tenure.

The Etimesgut–Bağlıca area should technically receive water from a line fed by gravity from Kesikköprü.

However, this system was cancelled in 2013 during Melih Gökçek's tenure.

Instead, the area began to be supplied in reverse from the İvedik Treatment Plant via pumps.

This method is:

•More fragile,

•Prone to failures and pressure drops,

•The first system to collapse under drought conditions.

The root cause of the problems experienced in some areas today lies in this flawed and temporary engineering choice.

"Temporary" was written in 2012"

The following statement appears in ASKİ's official documents dated 2012:

"The planned connection lines are temporary and will be decommissioned once the İvedik–Temelli Drinking Water Project is completed."

In other words:

•That the system established at the time was not permanent,

•That a new and proper line absolutely had to be built

was officially placed on record.

This necessary investment was not made for years, the problem was deferred, and today Ankara has been left to pay the price.

Construction work on the gravity line in question has begun by connecting it to the Polatlı line completed during the tenure of our Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş, with the project's completion date planned for May 2026.

It is impossible for Melih Gökçek not to know all of this.

Yet he is distorting the truth, attempting to bill today's administration for the problems left behind during his own tenure, and conducting a disinformation campaign that is driving the public into panic.

For this reason, a criminal complaint regarding these statements intended to mislead the public

will be filed with the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
